2013 Christmas Home

I’m a little…well, a lot…behind this year but I finally got my act together and am showing you our house all fancy and decorated for Christmas. The link-up parties have come and gone but its always fun to post this so I can remember what I did the year before! There are a lot of pictures and just a few comments so if you have a question, please leave a comment below or send me an email.

My favorite part of the whole house…a lot of wine and champagne was drank in here this season!

Wrapping paper from Ballard Designs, burlap ribbon from Hobby Lobby and tree skirt from Pottery Barn…I prefer modern in my home design but traditional at Christmas is my favorite.

I copied Wisteria’s holiday catalog, using red instead of blue. I love the many functions of this giant clam shell.

The coffee filter wreath from 2010 has held up so well – who would have thought?

Orange and Pink Tablescape

Last week, I posted my dreams for a great Mother’s Day celebration. I’m pleased with how it all turned out – especially the table! I love this orange and pink inspiration picture and really wanted to make it a reality in our house.

The table runner was the starting point for me with this table. Its actually a full tablecloth (from the colorful summery tableware section at Target) that I folded and used as a runner. The white tablecloth is one my mom has let me borrowed for several years and is from Williams-Sonoma. The napkins are just a yard of fabric I cut into sixths. I love the Greek key pattern playing off of the lines of the table runner ..and of course I love the orange!

The chargers are ones I’ve had for years (from Bed, Bath and Beyond) and the china, flatware and goblets with silver rim are all wedding china and glasses. The pink goblets are also from Target (in the same seasonal tableware section as the runner) as well as the multi-colored dipping bowls. I love that they had several colors grouped together so I bought a pink set and an orange/yellow set.

The flowers are my favorite part. I purchased three sets of colorful roses from our local grocery store that has an awesome floral department (Uptown Grocery for those in the OKC area) and mixed them up to make these arrangements. I am in love with the combination of pink, coral and orange. The vases are from Dollar Tree (the best place for glassware like this!) and I let my mom and grandma each take one arrangement home with them as their Mother’s Day present so now we have one lonely vase – I may need to go get more for myself!

 I’m so happy with how the tablescape turned out. This will be a fun and vibrant area to look at as the weather continues to get warmer and warmer – come on, summer!

Mother’s Day Planning

Have you started planning your Mother’s Day celebration yet? We are hosting my mom and grandma at our house this year so I have started dreaming out what I would like to happen. The trick is the execution so how this actually turns out is TBD. 🙂

I would start with a bright and colorful table of hot pink and orange.

I would use beautiful place settings like these Tiffany bamboo sterling silver utensils.

I would have plenty of flowers to soften the table and make the room smell lovely.

No party is complete without a bar so I would have a Bloody Mary bar…

…and also a mimosa bar! Because, why not?

I would serve Eggs Benedict (or some version of it)…

…and also bacon because no breakfast is complete without it!
